I often see people struggling with coffees they bought from a famous roaster, asking for advice from fellow brewers. Sure, some of us are deeper into the rabbit hole and have our technique dialed to a T, but most of us are still discovering this new world of specialty coffee and every bit helps.

This app is designed to cover what most recipe apps miss out: what the roaster tasted when they brewed your coffee in the roastery. Sure, not everyone has the same preferences, but most of the time, the roaster has a vision for the best representation of their roast style. I want to make that representation as accessible for the home-brewer as possible.

Using a roaster's recipe and water profile allows you to imitate their brew closely and then decide whether it matches your style or you would be better off using it as a baseline and make further tweaks.

Being available as a PWA, this project takes the freedom of a website and combines it with the familiarity and functionality of an app.

Most of them are not mine. They are drawn from roasters, cafés and creators, and each one names who it came from and links back to the original.

Recipes and water profiles here are recorded as numbers and steps, with the credit and the source attached. If something of yours is here and the credit is wrong, or you would rather it was not listed, say so and it will get fixed or removed.

Water is the part most brewing guides skip, so it gets equal love here. Profiles come in three kinds:

• Packet — a sachet into a known volume.
• DIY concentrates — minerals weighed into a concentrate solution, with the resulting hardness and alkalinity calculated for you.
• Drops — bottled mineral blends, counted into the brew or the batch.

All three scale to whatever volume you are actually making, which is a QOL improvement, since quick mafs is hard.

Out of my own pocket or from your donations. There are no ads, nothing is sold, and no data goes to anyone who would want to buy it. There is no analytics beyond a measurement of how quickly pages load, and embedded videos do not load at all until you allow them. The privacy policy spells out exactly what is stored and what other people can see, in plain terms rather than legal ones.

There is a donation link in the footer if you want to put something towards the hosting. It is entirely optional and buys nothing — no feature is behind it, and nothing about the site changes either way. Ignoring it costs you nothing at all.

It also works without a connection if you install the PWA. Once you have opened a recipe it stays available, which matters more than it sounds when the kettle is on and the kitchen has no signal.

Anyone with an account can add a recipe or a water profile, comment on one, and say which grinder and setting worked for them — those answers are gathered so that grind suggestions can eventually come from what people actually used rather than from a chart. Nothing is reviewed before it appears. A green check means a recipe/water profile has been checked against its stated source.
